The Austrian trip-hop giants Sofa Surfers, defined as the new wave in trip-hop is a group of well known art personalities, united by their thirst for experimenting with music and vision.

True to their style of differentiating the various pop cultures, Sofa Surfers dexterously mix “black music”, “dub culture” and “white rock”

Richard Dorfmeister spots Sofa Surfers for the first time with the launch of their debut single and makes an emblematic remix of their track Sofa Rockers. In their debut album Transit, in 1997, the band stakes on dub music but with every next project they sound more challenging and diverse.

Sofa Surfers demonstrate an explicit change of style in their 4th album, called Encounters-a true rhythm with many guest musicians, such as Sensational, Oddateee, Jeb Loy Nichols, DJ Collage and Mark Stewart. Their last album Blindside is even more unconditional, provocative and sincere than ever.

The exceptional musician & a DJ with British roots and Colombian residence will demonstrate his talents on 25th of November @ Sofia Live Club.

To his parents Quantic is known as Will Holland, but it’s quite possible nowadays for them to call him Quantic too.

Barely in his 30s the young English man has a solid creative career and a great music progress. His unmistakable jazzy sense of the current dance floor sound, the rough percussion instruments, the authentic funk and tropical fever are indisputable. Everything with the name Quantic on it has always been and still is a synonym for high creative and music quality which inspires with its unconditional love for music.

If this has to be described in numbers, we are talking about 14 albums released in 9 years, participation in almost all music festivals in the world and over 100 thousand sold records. Quantic’s music has been used in many famous ads and he is also the main element behind 5 independent projects: Quantic, Limp Twins, Quantic Soul Orchestra, Flowering Inferno and Quantic & His Combo Barbaro.

Will is also the brains behind the album “I’m Thankfull” of the well known Spanky Wilson, who has worked with names as Marvin Gaye, Sammy Davis junior, Lalo Schifrin, Jimmy Smith and Willie Bobo.

The most up to date location of Quantic is now Colombia, where he moves to live after visiting the place in search of traditional local music and musicians. It is in Colombia that Quantic sets up his new project Quantic & His Combo Barbaro being inspired by the hot Latin American music springs. This last project comprises of talents from Panama, Brazil, Peru and Colombia, which definitively expresses the richness of his albums.

In other words: To see Quantic live is as a meeting with a real genius, the memories of which will have a big sign “a great positive mark, a very wide smile and worn out from dancing shoe soles”.

The creator of the electric swing and his band are coming to Sofia, invited by the Bushmills Brothers.

The first concert of Parov Stelar band in Bulgaria will be held under the name “Bushmills Brothers – since the music got us together.” Bushmills will continue initiating music events with high value and will surprise the music connoisseurs with a second event, for which more information will be found soon here.

The ideologist of Parov Stelar is Marcus Füreder. After releasing several records under his own name, in 2003 he establishes the label Etage Noir Recordings. Since that day all his work is released under the name Parov Stelar. The albums KissKiss and Rough Cuts fire Parov Stear on the top of the international music scene.

Thanks to his unconventional approach on making music and irreplaceble sense of sound aesthetics Parov Stelar is now universally acknowledged as the creator of a new genre – electro swing.

In 2005 Parov Stelar decides to add a band, turning all his live acts into a dynamic and attractive shows.

The white British girl with the velvet voice comes once again to Sofia, on the 6th of November.

The series of music and culture events REEL FEEL continues with a big surprise – Alice Russell & TM Juke are coming on the 6th of November to Sofia Live Club.

Alice Russell is well famous for her voice abilities. She sounds as if she was brought up on the streets of Detroit, but actually she is from Briton, UK and of course she did sing in a church choir when she was little. When she is on stage, a magic happens, in which jazz, gospel, soul and funk stream only from one place - Alice Russell.

Except for her 4 solo albums, Alice is famous for her many collaborations with Quantic Soul Orchestra, Mr. Scruff & TM Juke, while her covers of “Seven Nation Army” (White Stripes) and Crazy (Charles Barkley) are often preferred rather the originals.

TM Juke (Alex Cowan) is the author and producer of most of Alice Rusell’s music and not only. He is a unique experimenter DJ, whose guitar is like his soul mate.

From classic and jazz guitar, through digital technologies with TM Juke the experience is like traveling through the worlds of funk, soul, latin, broken buggie, jazz and even d’n'b and dubstep music. For TM Juke it will be more precise to say that he sweeps through the specific style categorizations and this is one of his strongest aces.

A truly unforgettable summer disco party, part of the electronic music festival Insomnia.

The beach, the disco and the smashing vocals of Mary Moore – all this on 31st of July at Perla Beach, Primorsko, thanks to the amazing Faze Action Soundsystem, who will be part of the electronic music festival Insomnia.

Brothers Simon and Robin Lee – The Brothers That Made Disco Fashionable again.

Blending disco with African, Latin, jazz, classical and good old fashioned funk they create new music that’s both deeply reverential to the past and reaches grandly for a sophisticated future. Their second album for record label Nuphonic, ‘Moving Cities’ is far more than just a follow up to their groundbreaking 1997 debut ‘Plans & Designs’, it’s a musical manifesto that sums up everything that made music the 20th century’s most inspiring art form.

1995’s debut ‘Original Disco Motion’ EP was signed to the then infant Nuphonic label and found favour in DJ name-dropping conversation’s from Hoxton to Hulme. The 1996 follow up single, ‘In The Trees’ tempered a sinuous disco groove with unforgettably soaring orchestral strings. Richly organic, but still muscular enough to move any dancefloor, it was an instant modern classic. The following year’s critically acclaimed debut album ‘Plans & Designs’ turned dance music orthodoxy on it’s head, invoking the early eighties New York underground spirits of both Talking Heads’ art school funk and the electronic disco of producer Francois K and bands such as D-Train and Dinosaur L.

If Basement Jaxx can claim punk garage as their own, this surely was its sophisticated elder cousin – new wave disco.

Faze Action have spent their recent years DJ’ing around the world and remixing many acts including Alex Gopher, David Holmes, Bebel Gilberto, Pat Lundy, Serge Gainsbourg, Ian Pooley, Rae & Christain, The Strike Boys, Tosca, Femi Kuti, Maria Alvim & Rick Udler, Victor Davis, Mr. Bongo and Francoise K. As well as being regulars on the European DJ circuit, Simon Lee has provided several radio mixes including The Breezeblock on Radio 1, Into Somethin’ Radio in Munich and Unfold in Brighton.

Back from the future, Faze Action are here to continue their quest in spreading disco fever to one and all, having put together one of the most exciting albums of 2009. We say that because not only is ‘Stratus Energy’ a truly great listen from start to finish but in 2009 there is no getting away from disco, now recognised as a key part of contemporary dance music’s fabric, referenced across the pop charts and officially ‘cool’ again, now is the time for Faze Action to return and show these young pups a thing or two at the last day of July – the 31st, Perla Beach, Primorsko!

The Bulgarian trio SECRET WEAPONS: Funkusion (Groovy Sessions), DJ Stoned (Monokom Supremes) & Andrei (Cotton Records) will take care for a truly summer disco party, part of the electronic music festival Insomnia.

It’s time to get cosmic.
