Gotan Project @ ParkLive fest 2010
The second edition of ParkLive festival will take place between 18th and 20th of June under the patronage of the French Ambassador in Bulgaria, His Excellency Etienne de Poncins.
Last year we has a 3-day music marathon with Roots Manuva, Tricky, Lamb and many others, the festival won thousands of Bulgarian fans and international recognition, ParkLive was nominated for best small festival for 2009 at the UK Festival Awards and the European Festival Awards… This year we have prepared a more stylish and surprising selection for the fans of good quality music, to try and keep ParkLive close to the heart.
The creators of “contemporary tango” – the French trio Gotan Project who are coming to Bulgaria with the support of the french Culture Institute, will be our headliner on the 19th of June. Philippe Cohen Solal, Eduardo Makaroff and Christoph H. Müller are the musicians who totally changed the idea about the tango.
Being inspired by the African tango roots, the Argentinian folklore and the urban culture of present Buenos Aires, Gotan Project preserve the sexy sound of the tango, mixing it with electronic music.
In 2001 thanks to their debut album “La Revancha del Tango” Gotan Project manage to get the tango out of the dance halls and into the most popular clubs, becoming the favourites to some of the most popular DJs in Europe and America. The result is over 2 million copies sold and over 400 concerts on some of the most prestigious scenes in the world.
Different, fascinating and beyond traditional borders is the sign of Gotan Project which can be seen even in their name. Betting on the Argentinian jargon where the syllables in a word are swapped, the well knonw Tan-go becomes Go-tan.
